Engagement Ideas

  • Learn together, and talk about the content.
  • Practice summarizing and teaching the content. For example:
    • “What are the biggest ideas in this video/podcast?”
    • “Can you summarize what the main ideas are?”
    • “Pretend we’ve never heard/seen this. How would you explain it to us?”
  • BP is trying to induce a paradigm shift. Encourage one another to process that experience:
    • “What did they say that’s different from what you’ve heard at church, or from how you’re used to thinking?”
    • “How do you feel about these ideas? Why do you think you feel that way?”

Suggestions from BP

BP intends their videos to encourage and enhance Bible reading, not replace it, and provides a one-year Bible reading plan that integrates the videos:

  • BP’s Read Scripture Reading Plan (.pdf) and Read Scripture app both sequence the entire Bible in semi-chronological order and connect BP videos to the related books of the Bible. (You could follow their plan while easily using the Unofficial Resource Guide to look up additional material related to each week’s videos.)

Under “Continue Your Learning Journey,” at the bottom of every page in the Explore section, BP provides related videos, blog posts, podcast episodes, study notes, recommended reading, and classes from N.T. Wright Online.

When asked about video sequencing for kids via email, Danny at BP suggested starting with the How to Read the Bible series, and then working through the Read Scripture series book-by-book as you read.
